hi there, oh my dear artist friends,

you may have already received a call for submissions from me/work…but i wanted to put out a personal request too…

please see the description below AND note that, i know, many of you are not primarily photographers…and this is primarily meant to be a photo-based show…however, if you have made a book that features ANY photo-based work: collage, documentation, performance, etc…i’d love to have some of my friends involved in this show…it’s a little corny but i’m organizing it, so please consider lending us something (or forwarding the call on to other photo friends), eh?

Capricious Space: Summer Reading

This August, Capricious Space will be transformed into a magical, sunlit library – a haven for reading, reflection and retreat from reality – through the display of a very special collection of photo-based artists’ books, submitted by you!

With your help, we would like to showcase a wide range of photography publications created by local and international artists. Books as artworks, books about artists, scrolls in jars, carefully sewn Xeroxes, one-of-a-kind and weird books, books created by and about our most dear contributors - you!

Please mail us your artist book and we will display it for the duration of the exhibition. Then if you choose to include return shipping fees, we will very happily return it to you, OR we would love to give your book a permanent home in our Capricious Space archive.

Send an email letting us know that you’ll be participating and then send a single copy of your artist book to the following address, no later than Friday, August 1, 2008:
